Sojourn is a new and growing church in Oxnard, CA. We are a vibrant group of people who seek to connect with God and each other. Although our largest gathering occurs on Sunday, we're building community all week long through small groups, bbq's, musical jam sessions, ping pong tournaments, service projects, surfing and more...all washed down with copious amounts of coffee. Our Sunday morning gathering is at 10:00 am at Rio Del Norte Elementary School, located at 2500 Lobelia Dr. in Oxnard, 93036.
imagine a church that welcomes all people who are seeking to know and understand God. We did, that’s why we call ourselves a "e;a church without walls."e; By this we mean that we are a church where people can come from all sorts of backgrounds and experiences and discover Jesus. Rather than putting up walls which keep people away from God, we seek to tear them down. Jesus himself is our example as he consistently reached out to the unchurched of his day. At Sojourn no matter what your spiritual background or past, we want you to feel safe exploring and discovering God. Come as you are; but, in the spirit of sojourning, don't stay as you are!
openness | we want to show Jesus' love by welcoming people from all lifestyles, backgrounds and experiences. Recognizing that none of us are perfect, we desire to create a community that encourages people to come as they are and meet Jesus.
meaning | a life without meaning is empty. Fortunately, Jesus Christ gives hope to the hopeless. In Christ we can find hope for the afterlife, and meaning in this present life. there should be a sense of wonder, excitement and purpose as we learn to follow Jesus.
community | people are crying out for genuine community, for a chance to be a part of something great, for a chance to belong and be known. We want to know others and be known, to be loved in spite of our flaws. Community is doing life together.
impact | we believe the church should be a place which serves the cities in which we live. We want to impact the people outside of the church by caring for them in a real, tangible way. When we do this, we show the love of Christ. Our desire is to be a bridge from Christ to the world and our loving actions will serve as this bridge.
expression | each of us expresses our love and passion for Jesus in different ways. We want to express those feelings through art, music, dance and drama in ways that cause our souls to cry out and praise God.
