about

who are we? | sojourn is a new and growing church in Oxnard, CA. We are a vibrant group of people who seek to connect with God and each other. Although our largest gathering occurs on Sunday, we’re building community all week long through small groups, bbq’s, musical jam sessions, ping pong tournaments, service projects, surfing and more…all washed down with copious amounts of coffee. Our Sunday morning gathering is at 10:00 am at Rio Del Norte Elementary School, located at 2500 Lobelia Dr. in Oxnard, 93036.

why oxnard? | we believe Oxnard will be a great city, and we want to be part of the process of restoration. We are committed to bringing not just spiritual renewal, but also social and cultural renewal.

why the name sojourn? | a sojourn is a temporary stay and this life is temporary. As we sojourn here on earth we recognize that our temporal actions have eternal consequences. Therefore, we seek to connect with God in a richer, deeper, more meaningful way. We also recognize that all of us are in the process of changing. No one stays the same forever. We are all on some sort of spiritual sojourn.

without walls | imagine a church that welcomes all people who are seeking to know and understand God. We did, that’s why we call ourselves a “a church without walls.” By this we mean that we are a church where people can come from all sorts of backgrounds and experiences and discover Jesus. Rather than putting up walls which keep people away from God, we seek to tear them down. Jesus himself is our example as he consistently reached out to the unchurched of his day. At Sojourn no matter what your spiritual background or past, we want you to feel safe exploring and discovering God. Come as you are; but, in the spirit of sojourning, don’t stay as you are!
